We didn’t grow up talking about therapy — and maybe you didn’t either.
But we were always drawn to human stories.
As immigrants and people shaped by different cultures, we found ourselves asking:
What helps people heal? What makes someone feel truly seen?
Those questions led us to psychology — and eventually to doctoral training in clinical psychology. But our vision was never just about credentials.
A Different Vision of Therapy
We believe therapy doesn’t only happen behind closed doors.
It can happen in a heartfelt chat with your hairdresser.
In a deep conversation with a wise elder or cab driver.
In a sacred space, or a quiet moment with a friend.
Anywhere you feel safe, seen, and truly heard — that’s therapy.
While the West gave therapy its current structure, the core of healing through connection is ancient.
We know how to honor that tradition — and use it for real, lasting change.
Why We Created The Self Empowerment Center
In our clinical and community work, we saw the same pattern:
Therapy often felt too scripted, too disconnected from the lived experiences of immigrants, people of color, and spiritually rooted individuals.
We wanted to offer something different.
At The Self Empowerment Center, we don’t believe in cut-and-paste solutions.
We meet people where they are — with flexibility, creativity, and deep cultural humility.
That’s why we’re effective in working with people from many different backgrounds, identities, and life journeys.
What We Stand For
We’re not here to “fix” you.
We’re here to walk with you — as you:
- Understand your emotions
- Heal your relationships
- Explore who you are
- Reconnect with meaning
- Grow into your fullest self
We use tools like CBT, EMDR, IFS, mindfulness, and hypnosis — grounded in science, but always adapted to you.
Where We Are Now
Today, we offer in-person therapy in Warrenville, IL, and virtual services across Illinois and Pakistan.
We work with individuals, teens, couples, and families — always with warmth, cultural awareness, and respect.
You Deserve to Be Heard
You don’t have to carry it all alone.
If you’re looking for a safe, culturally sensitive space to grow, explore, and heal — we’re here.
